DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe RYA Day Skipper Theory Course /Watch Leader cours
 e is designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to chart wo
 rk\, navigation\, meteorology and the basics of seamanship.  The Day Skip
 per Theory Course is an integral part of the RYA Yachtmaster Scheme and is
  an essential building block of knowledge for those wishing to progress to
  the RYA Day Skipper practical course.   This course equips you with enou
 gh knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge 
 of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.\n\nThe RYA 
 Day Skipper Theory course is taught over an intensive 50 hours with two ex
 am papers. It can be covered as a series of short sessions or as an intens
 ive week-long course.  For this course\, the dates are spread over 2 week
 ends\, the first is a 3 day part\, the 2nd is 2 days.  You must have sign
 ed up for the 1st weekend to enable you to attend this part of the course.
   Should you wish to undertake the course over a different time frame\, p
 lease get in touch\, although this is dependent on the number of students 
 available.\nCourse topics include:  \n\n 	the basics of seamanship\n 	th
 e essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage\n 	chartwork\n 	electronic
  charts and chart plotters\n 	position fixing\n 	plotting a course to stee
 r\n 	weather forecasting and meteorology\n 	tides\n 	collision regulations
 \n 	construction\, parts and equipment of a cruising boat\n 	emergency and
  safety procedures including distress calls\,use of flares\, safety harnes
 ses\, lifejackets and liferafts.\n\nCourse Duration\nThe course is intensi
 ve and lasts for approx 50 hours\, including homework.\nFees.\nCosts are b
