SUMMARY:RYA Advanced Powerboat Course
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nThis RYA Advanced Powerboat Course is for leisure
  and professional boaters wanting to undertake more adventurous trips by d
 ay and night.  The RYA Advanced Powerboat Course (Day and Night) includes
  navigation at planing speed\, weather and other aspects of skippering pow
 erboats.  It encompasses more challenging passages in coastal waters. Giv
 en the nature of these passages the RYA Advanced Powerboat Course should b
 e delivered on powerboats of a minimum of 6 metres and an engine size suff
 icient to enable coastal passages at planing speed.\n\nAnybody undertaking
  this course must have the practical skills of the Intermediate course.  
 This includes knowledge of navigation to at least the standard of the Coas
 tal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased course.\nAssumed knowledge  \nCan
 didates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat 
 Certificate with a thorough knowledge of the navigation and chart work to 
 the level of Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. It is
  strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a V
 HF operators certificate.\nMinimum duration \n2 days\nMinimum age\n\n17\n
 Course content\n\nPreparation for sea\, boat handling\, passage making and
  responsibility as skipper\, pilotage\, meteorology\, rules of the road\, 
 use of engines\, emergency situations and night cruising.  The course inc
 ludes night time passages and clients should be prepared for cold/inclemen
 t weather.  At PPSA\, the course is conducted in a Highfield 7.63m RIB wi
 th twin 150 hp outboard engines and is conducted on the Milford Haven Estu
 ary from our site at Neyland Yacht Haven.\nAbility after the course  \nA
 ble to plan and execute coastal trips and return to a familiar port by day
