SUMMARY:RYA First Aid Course
DESCRIPTION:Overview \nThis one-day RYA First Aid course covers all the us
 ual first aid subjects\, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at an
 yone who goes afloat\, whether on inland waters\, rivers\, estuaries or on
  cross channel passages. In a medical emergency a little first aid knowled
 ge and immediate action can save lives\, especially in remote locations.\n
 \nThis course is MCA approved and satisfied the requirements for RYA Instr
 uctor Courses\, Coastal Skipper\, Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certi
 ficates of competence and some commercial work afloat.  This RYA First Ai
 d Course fulfils the requirements for:\n\n 	First aid training for vessels
  working up to area Category 2 under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Co
 des of Practice for Small Vessels Operated Commercially\;\n 	First aid tra
 ining needed by offshore racers subject to World Sailing's Offshore Specia
 l Regulation OSR 6.05.2\;\n 	The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations
 \, 1981 for the purposes of Emergency First Aid at Work.\n\nThe subjects s
 pecific to boating include:\n\n 	The recovery position in a confined space
 .\n 	CPR\, including the drowning protocol.\n 	Cold shock and hypothermia 
 from immersion and/or exposure.\n 	Seasickness and dehydration.\n 	Medical
  assistance or advice by VHF.\n 	Helicopter rescue.\n\nValidity.\nThe cert
