SUMMARY:RYA Powerboat Instructor
DESCRIPTION:Course Outline\nThe RYA Powerboat Instructor Course is a three 
 day course assessed by an independent RYA Powerboat Trainer on the third d
 ay.\nCandidates who are already qualified as an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor
  (power) may attend a one day conversion course instead.  The course is p
 receded by a Powerboat Instructor Skills Assessment to ensure that candida
 tes have the powerboat driving skills required of an instructor.  These s
 kills are based on the RYA Powerboat Level 2 skills.  Candidates consider
 ing enrolling for this course should ensure that they possess driving skil
 ls to the required standard.\nPrior Experience\nFive seasons experience of
  powerboating logged (preferably in range of boat types and sizes) or one 
 season for those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal fu
 ll-time occupation.\nPre-requisites\n\n 	Hold the RYA National Powerboat L
 evel 2\n 	Hold a valid first aid certificate\n 	Be a minimum of 16 years o
 ld.  No candidates under this age will be accepted onto the training cour
 se\n 	Successfully have passed the RYA Powerboat Instructor Skills Assessm
 ent within a year of the training course.\n 	Candidates wishing to teach t
 he RYA Safety Boat Course must firstly hold the award themselves.\n 	Curre
 nt RYA Membership.\n\nAlthough not mandatory\, it is strongly recommended 
 thta potential candidates attend and 'shadow' and RYA Powerboat Level 2 co
 ure before committing to the Instructor Course.  This will give an indica
 tion of what will be expected of candidates during the Instructor course.\
 nQualifed to teach\nOn completion\, successful candidates will be able to 
 teach up to and including Powerboat Level 2 under the supervision of the P
 rincipal or Chief Instructor. If you hold the Safety Boat Certificate\, yo
 u may also teach the RYA Safety Boat Course.\nValidity\nFive years from da
 te of issue\, provided that a valid first aid certificate is maintained.\n
