About The Racing Modules of the RYA National Sailing Scheme

Following the basics of Levels 1 and 2 and improver Level 3 of the National Sailing Scheme, there is a choice of courses to enable you to pursue whichever part of the sport you wish.  This also applies to the Youth Sailing Scheme.

Should you wish to join the thousands of other sailors in the country that race on a regular basis, you can undertake the racing modules of the National Sailing Scheme.

The Right Sailing Course For You

The reputation of the RYA National Sailing Scheme has been built on high standards and good tuition.  As an RYA Training Centre, PPSA is no exception to this and leads the delivery of RYA Sailing Courses in SW Wales.  All the courses of the RYA National Sailing Scheme can be completed in just two days, or spread over a series of sessions covering a period of 16 hours with the exception of the Intermediate and Advanced Racing Modules.  PPSA can be flexible and can offer courses during the evenings or half-day sessions if required.

Start Racing

This course is designed to give the confidenc, skills and knowledge to take part in club racing in good conditions.  Confidence is essential if the sailor is to enjoy racing.  The course involves the sailor in a range of enjoyable exercises designed to build confidence and to improve skills through practice.

Intermediate Racing

This course builds on the kowledge and skills learnt from ‘Start Racing’ , developing greater awareness of the key principles of starting, boat handling, boat speed, strategy and tactics, thorugh course time and regular race activity.

Advanced Racing

A predominantly practical course, Advanced Racing is all about developing skills in preparation for open meetings and higher-level competition
