An Introduction to PPSA

Welcome to Pembrokeshire Powerboating and Sailing Academy (PPSA).

With full access to the Milford Haven Waterway and the south Pembrokeshire Coast, PPSA is located at Neyland Yacht Haven Marina (www.yachthavens.com/neyland-yacht-haven).  It’s team of dedicated, professional instructors are able to deliver the complete RYA Powerboat Scheme, the RYA National Sailing Scheme in keelboats and  shorbased training to enhance your practical skills.

The experienced team of instructors will deliver tailored coaching and training to meet the powerboating and sailing requirements of the individual at all levels.  This is achieved by using a range of coaching techniques to suit the learning styles of the individual sailors.

Experience

PPSA staff are led by the Chief Instructor, Richard (Taff) Owens.  Taff is an experienced and professional instructor, having gained many years of valuable coaching and high performance sailing experience.  He’s instructed with the Army Sailing Association, the Laser 5000 Class Association and RYA Cymru/Wales as well as the freelance circuit.  He’s been the lead coach with the 5000 Class Association and has competed at European and National Level.  More recently he has competed in the Laser 4000 at European Level.  In addition, Taff is an experienced Powerboat Trainer, having honed his skills throughout his sailing and powerboat career.

Diverse Training

As the leading RYA Training Centre in SW Wales, PPSA has a full programme.  In addition to keelboat sailing, powerboat and shorebased courses, the Coaching team at the centre is able to deliver elements of the RYA Dinghy Instructor pathway and Powerboat Instructor training.  We will use the following elements to deliver the training:
