About The Course
This is a one day RYA First Aid Course that provides the leisure sailor/water user and commercial operator with first aid skills for use in a water based environment. It meets the requirements of the MCA for commercial users. Course content includes:
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) including the drowning protocol.
- The Recovery Position including adaptions for confined spaces.
- Cold Shock and Hypothermia following immersion and/or exposure.
- Seasickness and dehydration
- Calling for medical assistance using VHF radio
- Helicopter Rescues
The certificate issued is valid for 1 year from the date of the course.

None.

This RYA First Aid Course lasts one day.

On Completion
At the end of the course, you will have a working knowledge of the use of first aid in a small craft.
This RYA First Aid Course fulfils the requirements for:
- First aid training for vessels working up to area Category 2 under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Codes of Practice for Small Vessels Operated Commercially;
- First aid training needed by offshore racers subject to World Sailing’s Offshore Special Regulation OSR 6.05.2;
- The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations, 1981 for the purposes of Emergency First Aid at Work.
