About The Course

The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is an intensive and comprehensive 40 hour course that will include the following subjects:

  • Seamanship
  • Coastal Navigtion and Pilotage
  • Chartwork
  • Electronic Charts
  • Position Fixing
  • Plotting a course to steer
  • Weather forecasting and meteorology
  • Tides
  • Collision Regulations

Assumed Knowledge

Some practical experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Duration

5 days or 40 hours with 2 x written exams.  There will be some homework

Students will be given the RYA Day Skipper Course Pack as part of the course.

On Completion

On successful completion of the RYA Day Skipper theory course, you will have the background knowledge to skipper a small yacht/motorboat in familiar waters by day.
