About The Course

The RYA Day Sailing Course in Keelboats is an enjoyable, fascinating and relaxing course.  Day sailing is a very safe activity providing you follow a few simple principles and plan your day to make the best use of hte sailing area and conditions.

The course will include the planning and execution of a day sail, and on successful completion,  you will have a confident, safe approach to planning and executing a short day sail Valkyrie, our Beneteau First Class 8.  You will be led by our professional and trained instructors using appropriate techniques.

Assumed Knowledge

On starting this course, you should have already mastered the practical skills adn absorbed the background knowledge required for the previous levels.  In addition, sailors wishing to cruise independently should ensure that they understand and can carry out the manoeuvres in the Seamanship Skills part of the NSS

Duration

Approximaely 16 hours (either spread over a series of sessions or 2 full days)

On Completion

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to plan, organise and execute a short day sail in a keelboat

Next Steps

It is recommended that all participants consolidate this Seamanship course with some practice at our open sessions and clubs then take any of the other RYA Sailing Scheme Advanced Module courses.
